We make footwear production more sustainable by establishing local manufacturing that empowers communities and brands to produce eco-friendly products. We're creating a new local model focused on sustainability, starting with eco-friendly materials and developing shoe recycling solutions for brands and consumers to promote circularity.
Shloop Inc is a Public Benefit Corporation that reduces the environmental impacts of footwear manufacturing. Through education and training of sustainable footwear production techniques, we can boost our local economy through the creation of new career opportunities for artisans, designers, and technicians.
To make footwear more sustainable, we must define the metrics of what makes a product sustainable through the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method.
Shloop is dedicated to using science based targets, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and the scientific method to systematically improve product design, composition, construction, durability and recyclability or compostability of shoes.
Shloop is focused on the 5 key problems to accelerate footwear circularity:
1. Local Manufacturing
2. Sustainable Materials
3. Recycling of Shoe Materials
4. Deconstruction and Sorting of Shoe Regrinds
5. Upcycling Regrind into new Shoe Components
The Black Swan symbolizes a transformative event that changes how we see the world.
The pandemic and global supply chain breakdown revealed the flaws in off-shore manufacturing and our society's vulnerability.
We're here to show that sustainable, circular manufacturing can thrive in the USA, putting the planet and people before profit—a positive answer to world-changing events.
By empowering local communities and training the next generation of eco-conscious shoemakers, we’re giving creatives the freedom to do what they do best—CREATE!
