We combine state-of-the-art footwear manufacturing with the best of hand-crafted Italian footwear design and construction techniques. We are pioneering a new local footwear manufacturing model that enables product recycling and circularity by starting with sustainable materials and providing end-of-life shoe recycling for brands and consumers.
Shloop Inc is a Public Benefit Corporation that reduces the environmental impacts of footwear manufacturing. Through education and training of sustainable footwear production techniques, we can stimulate the local economy through the creation of new career opportunities for artisans, designers, and technicians.
To make footwear more sustainable, we must define the metrics of what makes a product sustainable through the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method.
Shloop is dedicated to using science based targets, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and the scientific method to systematically improve product design, composition, construction, durability and recyclability or compostability of shoes.
Shloop is focused on the 5 key problems to unlock footwear circularity:
1. Sustainable Materials
2. Recyclable by Design
3. Deconstruction and Sorting
4. Upcycling into new shoes
5. Scalability and Deployment
The Black Swan represents a rare event that changes the course of history and our perception of the world around us.
The pandemic and global supply chain disruption was a black swan event that exposed the risks and problems with off-shoring our manufacturing and awakened many of us to the fragility of our society and environment.
Our goal is to prove to the world that sustainable and circular manufacturing is possible in the USA, prioritizing the planet and its people over corporate profit...a positive response to world changing events.
By growing local communities from within and training our next generation of planetary caregivers to become producers of sustainable products, we are opening the doors for the creatives in the world to do what they do best…CREATE!
